As the Ice Skater or the Fisherman, your job is quite simple; it is to remind the guests on the Christmas Express train of the simple joys and the fun traditions of the winter season.

Review the training material below to learn how to bring this scene to life.

ice Skater:

As the ice skater, you may have noticed that what you’re “skating” on isn’t real ice–it’s concrete. But your job is to glide across that concrete as if it really is ice! Just wear your regular shoes and use that Christmas spirit to give the illusion of a real winter night on a frozen river. All you need to do is skate in a figure 8 around those two poles. You should start skating before you’re in the view of the train, so when it arrives, you’re already in action. You are welcome to do some spins or jumps! Have fun with it. You are welcome to wave at the train, if you’d like. Smile and have fun!

Fisherman:

As the fisherman, your job is simple. Don’t let the train passengers know that you’re really sitting on a block of concrete in the desert. In their eyes, you’re on a frozen river in the fight of your life with the fish you’ve been trying to catch for years! When the train is nearing your scene, take your place on your bucket seat and grab hold of your “fishing pole” (it’s really just a stick!). At first, the fish aren’t biting. Then, bam! There it is! That fish you’ve been dreaming about reeling in is on your line! Fight for it! Make a scene! If you want, you can even tip over on your bucket in the effort. But, alas, ultimately the fish wins, yet again. Disappointed, you turn to the train and throw up your arms as if to say, “maybe next year.” Then wave them away as the train departs. Have fun with it!

WHAT  TO WEAR:

You should come dressed in warm clothes, prepared to be outdoors for the entirety of the night. Warm pants, closed-toe shoes, a coat, etc.

Guidelines

We want you to have fun. However, there are a few rules you need to remember at this scene:

1. The MOST IMPORTANT, #1 rule you need to know: DO NOT GO NEAR THE TRAIN. Do NOT climb on the train, do NOT hold onto the train, do NOT walk directly beside or behind the train. You are required to stay AT LEAST 20 FEET away from the train AT ALL TIMES.

*If you violate any of the train rules, you will be sent home and will not be allowed back, period. The train is a ginormous and dangerous machine. Don't risk getting hurt, it's not worth it.

2. Be AT YOUR SCENE when you see a train turning the corner so you can be IN POSITION when the train arrives at the scene before yours.

3.  Do not do anything inappropriate or demeaning. Don't hit, punch, or fight. Follow the script in the video and the scene will have all the fun and action it needs!

4. Don't join in any other scenes. You might be tempted to jump in on another scene when the train is there. You might want to "just once" hide in the background  or pretend to blend in at another scene. My advice--Don't! Stick to your scene when the train is around. You're there for a reason, so have fun with your own job! If you jump into another scene while the train is there, you will mess up the experience for those on the train.

5. Don't move the objects in the scene. If you have an idea and want additional props, run it by Alivia (702)672-1048 first.

6. Don’t stop acting until the train is totally out of view–until you 100% know that the passengers can’t see you anymore. If they see you stop acting before you’re out of sight, it takes away the magic.
