Frosty the Snowman is one of my favorite scenes on the train route. As one of the builders, you will take part in a fun and heartwarming winter scene that will bring the joys of friendship and childhood to everyone!

Watch the video and read the training materials for instructions on how to bring the Frosty the Snowman scene to life!

The story of Frosty the Snowman is simple; a group of young friends build a big snowman and a magic hat brings him to life. And though your snowman won’t be coming to life–and he isn’t even made of snow!--he has all the Christmas magic that Frosty ever had. Your job is to have fun! Show the train passengers a fun snow day on a cozy winter night with your best friend. Be exciting, enthusiastic, and fun.

Before the train arrives, make sure that all of the snowman’s decoration pieces (scarf, mittens, carrot nose) are on the floor in front of the snowman. *Leave his hat on, always. When the train is arriving, you can pretend to be putting on the hat, but don’t actually remove it. It has a velcro piece that will keep it attached to the snowman’s head. Next, grab the scarf from the ground. Each of you will take one side of the scarf and put it on the snowman together, then tie it up in the front. Next, grab one mitten each and put them on the snowman’s hands. Finally, one of you will grab the carrot nose and pop it while the other pats down the snowman. When he’s fully decorated, congratulate each other on your work. You can do a big hug, you can high five, you can hold hands and jump in a circle, it’s up to you! At this point, you’ll notice the train. Act surprised to see it, and then wave as big and as happy as you can. Blow kisses, skip around, and have fun until the train leaves. Show the train that you’re having fun, don’t look bored!

instructions:

WHAT  TO WEAR:

You should come dressed in warm clothes, prepared to be outdoors for the entirety of the night. Warm pants, closed-toe shoes, a coat, etc.

This scene is unique in the costume department--we want YOU to design your own outfit. Dress warm, thats priority #1, and then wear your most colorful and Christmas-y coat, beanie, gloves, etc. If you don't know what to wear, just bundle up, and you will look perfect for the scene! Remember, you're acting in a scene of two friends who get to build a snowman together on a snowday--you've just got the news that school is canceled, and you can't wait to spend the day with your friends playing in the snow!

when to arrive:

  • You should arrive at the ranch by 4:30pm

  • You must be in position at your scene by 5:05pm

GUIDELINES:

We want you to have fun. However, there are a few rules you need to remember at this scene:

1. The MOST IMPORTANT, #1 rule you need to know: DO NOT GO NEAR THE TRAIN. Do NOT climb on the train, do NOT hold onto the train, do NOT walk directly beside or behind the train. You are required to stay AT LEAST 20 FEET away from the train AT ALL TIMES.

If you violate any of the train rules, you will be sent home and will not be allowed back, period. The train is a ginormous and dangerous machine. Don't risk getting hurt, it's not worth it.

2. Be AT YOUR SCENE when you see a train turning the corner so you can be IN POSITION when the train arrives at the scene before yours.

3.  Do not do anything inappropriate or demeaning. Don't hit, punch, or fight. Follow the script in the video and the scene will have all the fun and action it needs!

4. Don't join in any other scenes. You might be tempted to jump in on another scene when the train is there. You might want to "just once" hide in the background  or pretend to blend in at another scene. My advice--Don't! Stick to your scene when the train is around. You're there for a reason, so have fun with your own job! If you jump into another scene while the train is there, you will mess up the experience for those on the train.

5. Don't move the objects in the scene. If you have an idea and want additional props, run it by Alivia (702)672-1048 first.

6. Don’t stop acting until the train is totally out of view–until you 100% know that the passengers can’t see you anymore. If they see you stop acting before you’re out of sight, it takes away the magic.

7. Show the train that you're having fun--try not to look bored!

8. Do not remove the snowman's hat.

9. Don’t remove any of the props from this scene. If any of the snowman’s decorations are lost, you’ll be accountable, so make sure you leave them all at the foot of the snowman whenever the train isn’t around.
